5 reasons to join us at JOGS & Kino in Tucson, January 31st – February 17th

Sunwest Silver will be making its annual trip to the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show in just a couple of weeks, and we can’t wait for the festivities to begin.  The Tucson Gem & Mineral Show has been held annually since 1955, and averages close to 1,300 vendors every year.  The show itself does not take place at an individual location but is spread across the city at several different venues.  This year, we will hold our booth at JOGS in the Tucson Expo Center from January 31st to February 11th and then at the Kino Sports complex from January 31st to February 17th.  Here are some of the best reasons to come visit us during one of our favorite times of year!

1. Large inventory of Carico Lake Turquoise

Carico Lake Turquoise has an astonishing color palette. Ranging from highly unique electric greens to sky blue; from teal to mossy, earthy greens. And rarely, a nugget with both earth and sky color.

The highest grade Carico Lake Turquoise is gem-quality American turquoise.  High zinc content paints the stone an astonishing lime-green color with a unique spider web matrix, creating a much sought after and collectible stone. Due to the harsh conditions and remote location of the mine, Carico has a very small yearly yield. The high-grade apple green stones make up less than 3% of the yearly yield, making it a rare form of turquoise.

 2. Loose Turquoise and Cabs

Sunwest prides itself on having one of the largest turquoise collections in the world, and we will have it on full display at JOGS.  Not only do we have finished jewelry, but we offer a large variety of loose turquoise cabs as well.  Carico Lake, Golden Hills, Egyptian & Kingman Turquoise are just a few examples of what we will have on hand, and we offer them in several different shapes and sizes.  For a better understanding of our cabochon inventory, be sure to visit our Instagram page at sunwestturquoise.

3. New Inventory from New Lander

Chalcosiderite from the New Lander mine in Nevada has been mined personally by Sunwest Silver and has a wide range of color and matrix. This material is mined right across from the famous Lander Blue mine and is known for having a beautiful black webbing throughout the stone.  Surely a great find for anyone looking for something different and original.  You can visit our Instagram page, mentioned above, for some examples of New Lander cabs that we will have on hand at JOGS, as well as rough, strands and finished handmade jewelry.

 4. Great Prices on Jewelry Findings

Jewelry findings consist of jewelry-making components that are not gemstones, beads, or stringing materials.  Findings are imperative for making great looking, finished pieces of jewelry, and Sunwest will have hundreds of options available.  Come to our booth to find our full inventory, including bails, spacer beads, bezel cups, end caps, clasps, cones, earring components & much more.

5. Tucson’s Wonderful Winter Weather

Is it cold and snowy where you are?  There is no better place to escape during the winter months than Tucson, AZ.  With temperatures averaging in the 70’s and hardly a cloud in the sky, it’s no wonder that Tucson has become a popular winter destination.  Golf courses, swimming pools, and of course the gem show, are just a few activities that you can enjoy while you come visit us at JOGS in February.  For more information on attractions surrounding the Tucson area, visit the Tucson website at  https://www.visittucson.org/.
